The Dagda's Cauldron is a community service project built by a team of nonprofits and local leaders in and throughout the Cincinnati Tristate and surrounding areas. The aim of the project is to run a food and clothing drive during the harvest season which runs from September to mid-November. The proceeds will be then donated to Our Daily Bread, which is a Cincinnati based non-profit soup kitchen and social center that helps the homeless and those in need.

How does the project work?

We convene with local, participating businesses and place a display and large plastic Halloween cauldrons in their stores. The community is encourage to drop off food and clothing items in these cauldrons so we can collect and give them to Our Daily Bread.

Who is the Dagda and why use cauldrons?

The Dagda is an ancient Irish/ Celtic deity who was also known as “The Good God.” Good implying that he was good and a master at all skills. He was known for his abundance and giving nature. A warrior and a chieftain among a race of gods known as The Tuatha Dé Danann, he possessed one the four magical treasures of Ireland, The Cauldron of Plenty. It was also known as "Coire Ansic" (an Irish/ Gaelic phrase meaning "un-dry"), it's famous for its ability to provide endless food and never leave anyone unsatisfied.

Most of our team are part of the local pagan community, many of which are Druids. The Dagda is one our major deities we honor. And the work we do not only helps to serve our community but also dispel myths and misconceptions about our spiritual paths.
